Meet Santana - Our Super Fit Mum in Lock Down!

How has life changed for you since the lock down has been put in place?

Yes, it has, my husband was travelling a lot for work  before the lockdown and my two boys were in school. Family time was mainly the weekends and now we are a 24/7 family, which is mainly good, but sometimes really exhausting.

How are you coping and do you have any tips to share?
I think it is important to have a routine in place, even if you don’t need to leave the house. We have breakfast at 7am, go to the park at 8am and start work and school at around 9am. Thursdays we play tennis in the morning and Fridays we go out for breakfast. We have lunch together and I try to cook things that we would usually order in a restaurant, like sushi, spring rolls and pizza. Making mealtime enjoyable for everyone is now even more important than in “normal” life.

We've noticed you've become one of our live-stream regulars. What's inspired you to join these classes?
The virtual classes are the perfect fit for lock down. I didn’t need to be inspired to join! I’m spending too much time in the kitchen and teaching the boys so I’m very grateful for scheduled "me-time”.

Have our live-stream classes inspired you to try something new?
Yes, the Ballet 101 with Jen. The last time I tried ballet was when I was 5 years old. It didn’t go well and I wouldn’t join a real class with surrounding mirrors at forty-six, but in the comfort of our tiny guest room with no mirrors, it was a lot of fun. I’m eying Shea’s Chair Tricks & Choreo, but I have not joined one yet.

What are your favourite classes and why?
I don’t really have a favourite class, I love the ones I do and I enjoy the different instructors. Amber's Active Flex & Stretch is perfect for Monday, very mellow but still effective. Jen’s Barre class is something different and passes in no time and Shea’s Body Blitz lets you forget all the worries about the global pandemic and you just give everything you have.

It's so nice to see all the familiar faces and to have a live-stream class. I would never get around to watch a YouTube video and exercise.

Have you noticed any mental, physical or emotional benefits as a result of our live-stream classes?
The lock down amplifies the emotional roller coaster as a family and PA's live-stream classes give me balance. I like them so much, I do one everyday except Sunday.

How have our live-stream classes helped you maintain your fitness goals?
I don’t have defined fitness goals, sorry, but the classes help me FEEL GOOD during lockdown.

How easy have you found it to follow VIRTUAL classes online?
In general the classes are easy to follow, especially when you do them regularly.

Who do you think would benefit from joining one of our live-stream classes?
Anybody would benefit, but especially mums in lockdown!

Since the lockdown have you developed any new mindsets, habits or thoughts? If so, how will you adopt these back into 'normal' life?
I like the park in the morning for 30-minutes with the four of us. The timing doesn’t work during a normal week, but I would still like to do it at the weekend.

What 3 things are you grateful for right now?
1. I’m grateful for having a family.
2. Living in Sydney.
3. Having time to take care of myself.
